It’s a Girl! is a collection of mixed-media works assembled from decorative and domestic objects traditionally tied to the “feminine.” Chosen for their resonance, these materials evoke memory and emotion. The series is not a memorial; it moves with the ongoing realities of misogyny and engages urgent questions of gender. Drawing from lived experience, the works incorporate cookware, appliances, and home décor—objects that both reflect and shape domestic life. By placing these items within an art context, the series challenges the purist aesthetic hierarchy that privileges certain materials over others based on gendered associations. This assemblage of works is a living archive of history, politics, and daily life, compelling viewers to confront how material culture can reinforce and disrupt gender norms.
